One-to-One and Family SupportWe are here to provide you with help and support. Hospice Yukon volunteers and staff are compassionate and sensitive people who listen without judging or advising. We respect your need for confidentiality and honour all spiritual beliefs without imposing our own values. Our client support worker has a compassionate understanding of your struggles with loss and grief. He can assist you in identifying and meeting your needs, provide information, tools and resources to help you, your friends, your loved ones and your workplace in this journey of healing. You and your family may book a private appointment to talk about individual needs such as: Palliative support for those facing a terminal illness and who are not expected to live for more than one year. Anticipatory grief support, when the death of a family member or friend is expected within one year. Grief support after a death has occurred. For ongoing support, clients are matched with Hospice Yukon volunteers. Our volunteers have been carefully screened and have completed an extensive Hospice Yukon training program. They work under the guidance of Hospice Yukon staff. Volunteers meet regularly with their clients to provide support for those with advanced illness and their families and friends, or for those who are grieving a loss and need someone to listen and understand. Volunteers also provide vigiling support for those in their last days of life. With compassion and care, volunteers sit at bedside with the dying and their loved ones. |
